This privacy policy explains how MERBACO LTD ("we", "us"), trading as Merbaco Kitchen, collects and uses your personal data when you visit our website or buy from us. We are the data controller for this data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

  • Order and contact details: name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, order history.
  • Payment details: processed securely by our payment providers; we do not store your full card details.
  • Communications: emails and messages you send us.
  • Newsletter: your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser, pages viewed and similar information collected through cookies.

How and why we use it (lawful bases)

  • To process and deliver your order, handle returns and provide customer service – performance of a contract.
  • To keep accounting and tax records – legal obligation.
  • To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and improve our shop – legitimate interests.
  • To send marketing emails and to use non-essential cookies – consent, which you can withdraw at any time (unsubscribe link in every email, or change your cookie preferences).

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers who help us run our shop, under appropriate contracts: Shopify (our e-commerce platform and payment processing), Amazon (Multi-Channel Fulfilment – packing and dispatching your order), delivery carriers, and our email and IT providers. We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside the UK (for example in Canada, the European Economic Area or the United States). Where this happens, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep order and transaction records for 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, to meet tax and accounting requirements. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Other data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above.

We use essential cookies to make our website work (for example, your basket and checkout). With your consent we may also use analytics and marketing cookies. You can manage your choices through the cookie banner on our website.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email hello@merbacokitchen.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
